Committee of Management
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) is responsible for the regulations governing the standards our kindergarten must maintain. The Committee of Management exercise control over the day-to-day operation of this children’s service. This includes: Employment and Management of Staff, compliance with all standards, equipment purchases, fundraising, social functions, setting fees, maintaining the grounds and building etc. The Annual General Meeting held in November, is when the new Committee of Management is elected.
No qualifications are required for membership of the committee. All that is needed is enthusiasm and the desire to work for the benefit of your child and the children at the kindergarten! The Committee of Management is made up of an Executive committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and General committee members.
Meetings are held once a month, 7pm at the kindergarten.
The fact that we have such a great kinder didn’t just happen! It is a result of the cumulative efforts of staff and committee of many years. All parents are encouraged to think seriously about joining the committee, and to support all kindergarten activities.
Fundraising
Alexandra & District Kindergarten is a not-for-profit kindergarten that has been serving the community by providing quality kindergarten care for over 50 years.
It is the responsibility of the committee of current parents to run the operational, financial and fundraising aspects of the kindergarten. Although the kinder does receive some government funding, this does not cover capital expenditure or upgrades as needs arise.
Fees are essential to ensure the running of the kindergarten, as well as various fundraisers throughout the year. We ask all families to support our fundraising efforts.
Working Bees
All families at Alexandra & District Kindergarten are invited to take part in working bees as they arise. It is usually only for a couple of hours, on a weekend morning.
